45TH ANNUAL USHCC NATIONAL CONFERENCE AWARDS
CÁSTULO DE LA ROCHA TO BE HONORED WITH THE OHTLI AWARD
The Ohtli Award is one of the highest honors given by the Mexican government to individuals who have dedicated their lives to helping and empowering Mexican communities abroad. The word "Ohtli" means "path" in Nahuatl, symbolizing the honoree’s work in clearing a path for others, fostering opportunities for Mexican immigrants and promoting the advancement of the Mexican diaspora. It recognizes significant contributions to community leadership, advocacy, and efforts to preserve Mexican culture.
The honor is being awarded to Cástulo de la Rocha, President and CEO of AltaMed, for his lifelong commitment to serve and provide essential health services to the most vulnerable communities in California— undocumented immigrants and people with no ability to pay for healthcare.
